This department is responsible for issuing all building permits
in the City. The city is bound by the Florida Building Code with
additional restrictions imposed by our own city code.
It is always prudent to check with this department before
proceeding with any construction of any type. Failure to get a
permit can result in fines to the homeowner and potential shoddy
or dangerous work being performed on your building.
Permit fees help defray the
cost of inspecting and approving plans. By going through the
permit process, you are also provided the service of determining
if the products being recommended by your contractor have
Miami-Dade County Product Approval. If the product(s) in
question do not appear on the list of approved products, your
job will not be approved. Since Hurricane Andrew, many products
have been disapproved, as they will not stand up to high winds.
This may be cumbersome to some people, but in the long run this
will save you money and anguish should a storm like Andrew hit
Miami Springs head on. |
