RESOLUTION NO. 2003-3220

 

 

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI SPRINGS ADOPTING DESIGN GUIDELINES AND A COLOR PALETTE FOR DOWNTOWN FAÇADE IMPROVEMENTS AND FOR OTHER DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION PROJECTS; EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

WHEREAS, the City has been conducting a comprehensive and intensive investigative process regarding the revitalization of the city's downtown business area; and,

WHEREAS, the city solicited the services of the University of Miami School of Architecture, Center of Urban and Community Design, to assist the city in the preparation and addition of design guidelines and a color palette to be utilized for downtown façade improvements and for other downtown revitalization projects; and,

WHEREAS, the City Council has received presentations from University representatives regarding the design guidelines and color palette being recommended for utilization and implementation in the downtown revitalization area; and,

WHEREAS, it is the intent and desire of the City Council to encourage and support façade and other downtown revitalization projects which utilize and implement the design guidelines and color palette recommended by the University of Miami School of Architecture, Center of Urban and Community Design; and,


 

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Springs has determined that it is in the best interests of the City, its citizens and the revitalization of the downtown business area to adopt the design guidelines and color palette proposed and recommended by the University of Miami School of Architecture, Center of Urban and Community Design, for downtown façade improvements and for other downtown revitalization projects:

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI SPRINGS, FLORIDA:

 

Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Miami Springs hereby adopts the design guidelines and color palette proposed and recommended by the University of Miami School of Architecture, Center of Urban and Community Design, for downtown façade improvements and for other downtown revitalization projects in the City.

Section 2: That attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof are copies of the adopted design guidelines and color palette.

Section 3: That copies of the aforesaid design guidelines and color palette shall be maintained in the city's building department and the downtown administrator's office for reference and review by all interested citizens and parties.

Section 4: That by the approval of this resolution, the established policy of the City Council is to encourage and endorse downtown façade improvements and other downtown revitalization projects which utilize and implement the design guidelines and color palette adopted herein.

Section 5: That the provisions of this resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.

 

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Miami Springs, Florida, this 12th day of May, 2003.

The motion to adopt the foregoing resolution was offered by Vice Mayor Elza, seconded by Councilman Caudle, and on roll call the following vote ensued:
